Frequently asked questions.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If your brain never quite turns off. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just off. If you want to understand yourself better and make changes that actually stick. If you've been meaning to start therapy for a while but keep putting it off.
What’s your approach?
My style is collaborative, warm, and thoughtful-I’m here to help you untangle the mess, not just sit back and watch. I engage, ask questions, and help you make sense of what’s going on and how to move forward.
Who do you work with?
I work with people who are used to figuring things out on their own, high achievers, healthcare professionals, and people new to therapy who want something grounded and straightforward. If you’re someone who thinks, I should be able to handle this myself, we might be a good fit.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
You don’t need to have a big crisis or a neatly packaged “issue” to start therapy. A lot of people come in with just a vague sense that something feels off (overwhelm, burnout, second-guessing everything). My job is to help you make sense of it. Some sessions might feel structured, others might just be us figuring out what’s coming up for you that day. Either way, you don’t have to have it all mapped out before you start.
How long does therapy take?
That depends on you. Some people come in for a specific issue and wrap up in a few months. Others use therapy as an ongoing space to process and grow over time. There’s no one right answer, just what works for you.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
That happens. Sometimes it’s the approach, sometimes it’s the therapist, sometimes it just wasn’t the right moment. We’ll figure out together what actually works for you. If something isn’t clicking, I want to know so we can adjust. Therapy should feel useful, not like something you’re just sitting through.
What is the first session like?
We will start by getting to know your goals for therapy and developing an understanding of your past experiences and how they currently influence you. Then we will spend time exploring from there. That doesn’t mean therapy needs to last forever, and we will decide and reassess your needs as we go along, with the understanding that healing is a process that takes time.
What are your fees?
Rates depend on the session type but are comparable to other doctoral level psychologists in NYC ($250-350/session). Many insurance plans reimburse 50-80% of session costs once your deductible is met. If you’re curious, reach out, we can go over what therapy might look like for you and whether it’s the right fit.
Do you take insurance?
I accept Sinai UMR top-tier insurance directly (often $0 copay).
If you have other insurance, I am out-of-network but provide superbills for reimbursement. Many insurance plans reimburse 50-80% of session costs once your deductible is met. If insurance logistics stress you out, I use Thrizer to make it easier.
